GONORRHEA, commonly called "the clap," is by far the most common venereal disease. It is estimated that there are more than 1.5 million now cases of the disease annually in the United States. alone. Gonorrhea is worlduise in distribution. Although there is consider able variation in individual susceptibility to the infection, lacunity is not produced by an attack, consequently individuals may be reinfected with gonorrhea over and over again.
Gonorrhea is most prevelant among the Jexually active, and is most commonly found in the 15 to 24 age group. Gonorrhea rates are higher anong sigrants, military personnel, and homosexuals.
The infection is almost always transmitted through sexual contact, but at timos people may be infected through other moans, most commonly by a child passing through an infected genital
tract. These gonococcal infections are rore in males between the ages of one and adolescence, but in females cause vulvovaginitis. This infection results from sexual contacts with an infected adult or, rarely, from contact with contaminated towels or linen.
Initial symptoms occur shortly after intercourse, usually between two days to a week, and in the male consist of a burning sensation at urination which is soon followed by a pussy discharge. In the female, painful urination that is followed by a vaginal discharge are noted, although female carriers of the disease may have no symptons and this tends to spread the infection.
Occasionally, the gonococcal bacteria invade the blood and are carried vie the blood stroan to distant parts of the body infecting the joints, tendons heart valves, skin, and various other parts of the body.
Joint inflammation (arthritis) usually occurs within 1 to 3 weeks after the
TURNABOUT
If practice makes perfect, then a lot of practice, obviously, went into the Turnabout Night show presented by the employees at CXEDRA on March 25th. The show was flawless and perfectly executed, all the more credit to the performers who, for the most part, made their debut on the stage and, yet, performed like seasoned veterano.
The unpredictable March weather did not favor the Thursday night event and there was some fear among the perforners that the high winds and snow may keep the crowd down. These fears soon proved to be unfounded as an overflow crowd filled the club by shoutine.
Those who braved the storm were well rewarded by an outstanding show. A unique and very volcone innovation was the simultaneous televising and broadcast of the show on a TV set at the bar and a large screen in an adjoining lounge area, thus enabling everyone to see the show in all areas of the bar, even for those away from the stage. Dan Fields manned the video equipment, and the resultant tope will certainly bring many an evening of enjoyment for, both, porformers and customers in being able to see the shou over again.
Kenny Coss, the clubs 03, opened the show with such fervor, the crowd would not let him leave the stage without an encore. The ever popular Lil Mary, a barmaid, excelled in both her numbers, the five-o-clock shadou and hairy chest and arne were very appropo for her rendition of "The Wanderer," while the I CHOKED LINDA LOVELACE T-shirt on this frail body was quite hilarious. For the Marilyn Monroe fans, Dennis, was quite a treat. The resemblance was truely REMARKABLE! His performance was inspired and faithfully reproduced the fabulous Miss M. much to the delight of everyone. Not to be outdone, Johnny 8.. performed with much enthusiase edthed only by that of David and Randy. Shellie's debut proved he should repeat the performance soon. Miss D. and Doo Doo Mills made a cameo appearance at the show. A great deal of credit for the shous success goes to Ricky St. Clair who directed the show,

O. P. MARDI GRAS WINNERS.
Mardi Gras cone to Akron just last March 27th with a hugh turnout of people in costumes.
The OLD PLANTATION hosted their annual Mardi Gras party to a crowd that rivaled the closeness of tho crowds on Bourbon Street in Nou Orleans.
The O.P. disk jockey, Dan, had the dancers in a frenzy, when the announ ment came at midnight it was time for the costume contest.
We were first treated to the talent of Katrice Phillips, who then assumer the duties of M.C., Costumo after costume came forward to be oohed and ahed, while the judges decided the winners.
Third place went to a "flapper", dressed for a night at the local speakeasy. The second prize vent to Dwayne H., who was wearing a Queen's costume from New Orleans. First place went to the most outragous black wedding party. They certainly out-did themselves and we understand this was the first time in "drag" for some of the nenbere.
Hoste, Jeff, manager of the O.P., and Don, ounes, made sure the party went off with out a hitch. The hospitality of the staff and management was most gracious and u look forward to our next visit which will cons, none too soon!
